Imaginary crossings : Journey to Greenland

Like an explorer discovering other lands, the painting, in the form of a circle, lets us glimpse a distant, fragmented landscape, between frozen surfaces and emerged territories. The marquetry assembles or fragments, the veins of the wood follow or interpose each other and give birth to voids or solids, to rivers or to imaginary topographies.

In a more poetic way, the project is inspired by a journey made by a friend to the ends of the earth on a traveling boat, sailing within the Arctic Circle. Voyage au Groenland then constitutes a personal representation of an imaginary crossing, of a fantasized journey that I would have liked to live or that I will live one day.
